Ask Questions

Who is doing your thinking?

If you’re scratching your head and saying to yourself, “Well, duh, I am”, wondering why I would suggest it would be anyone else, then let me explain the question.

Most of the time we are not thinking at all.  We think we think but what we are actually doing is reacting.  Depending on whose study you look at and how deep your programming runs, between 95-99% of your thoughts, decisions, opinions, perspectives, purchases, and behaviours are automatic.  You are not thinking.  Your programming is running the show.

So, who is doing your thinking?  Most of the time, whoever programmed, or programs, you.

Where it gets really interesting is when the programming has conditioned you to outsource your thinking and never question or challenge it.  This is evident in the case of authority figures.

As a child you inherently respected authorities.  You looked up to them – mom and dad were perfect, and adults were the smart ones - you counted on them for your meals, safety and guidance.  That conditioning is engrained so a perceived authority – doctor, politician, television anchor, banker, professor – has your respect and trust simply because of their credentials.

But what happens when the advice they prescribe, the bill they want to pass, the coverage they deliver, the condition they impose, or the content they’re teaching contradicts what you know is true, noble or fair?  What is the price for acquiescing?

Aha! ~ If it feels wrong, it probably is.

We are conditioned to accept what the authorities tell us as the way it is.  But is it?

Thinking happens in the executive centre of your brain. To think you need to be fully present both mentally and energetically.  It takes deliberate, conscious attention and intention to question something then override a program and do something differently.

Know, too, that if you’re in a state of fear or confusion, you won’t be able to think clearly because you’re more concerned about self-preservation than being creative.

The first program we need to override, then, is this: like your parents when you were young, just because someone is in an authority position doesn’t mean they know.  Thinking outside your conditioning and questioning a narrative shows tremendous self-respect.

Another thing, you feel information before you think it.  If you ignore its messages, it will manifest itself in the form of stress, anger, resentment, guilt, or worse, illness.

Trust yourself first.
