Making Excuses

Who tells you what to do?

My friend, Cathy, wrote a social media post addressing the women folk. The message suggested to them that they don’t need to ask permission from their spouse for something that supports their growth, expression, passion, purpose, or fulfillment.

(I commented on the post that neither should men.)

All good relationships have respect as a solid pillar, and compromise as a fluid element, but what does it say about an individual’s responsibility for their own pride, joy, and accomplishment if they feel the need to seek the approval of another?

How important is it that you inspect all relationships – spouse, parents, siblings, coworkers, committee members, government officials, your doctor, children, mentor, neighbors, bank or business associates – to recognize if, with any of them, you are following orders or making quality choices for yourself? Can we be quietly making excuses by handing the power of our happiness to another?

Aha! ~ “Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.” ~ Les Brown

Responsibility insists that regardless of the conditioning, you question authority, rules, or even those close to you against your own values. Is what they are suggesting for you in some way inhibiting you from feeling joyful, powerful, and developing or is it you who is self-sabotaging by allowing the authority of others to direct your course?

“Leadership is taking responsibility while others are making excuses.” ~ John C. Maxwell

Personal leadership is yours always.

The world gets more interesting on a daily basis and the shift will only ramp up from here. Are you ready? Check the YouTube channel for the “Making Excuses” video and what’s next for those taking responsibility!
