Rose are Red, Violets Are _________

 How accepting are we?

Someone might hand in a report saying they dotted their T’s and crossed their I’s and we don’t question it. We just receive the report having automatically rearranged the sentence to match what we expected them to say. (read the sentence again.)

We also accept oxymorons like “Great Depression”. What was great about it? Or someone giving their “unbiased opinion”. Is that even possible? Has anyone ever suggested you “act naturally”? If you’re acting, how are you being natural? It’s not at all uncommon that we accept what’s familiar without questioning it.  It’s all part of the programming.

Acceptance is a good thing when you’re accepting truth, or an apology or an outcome or the fact that there are only 24 hours in a day.

Reflecting on last year’s accomplishments, do you believe that what you’ve historically done is a predictor of what the future will bring?  The patterns are engrained so it only makes sense that if you are happy, healthy, and financially successful, and continue to operate on autopilot with your signature values and subsequent behaviours, then likely you’ll continue to get those same results.

Take the quiz anyway.  Roses are red, violets are _____. Now, did you pause, even for a nano-second, to think up a different rhyming word or simply fill in the blank and move on?

Routine acceptance and auto-pilot are Mother Nature’s built-in efficiency mechanism, but can acceptance be a growth inhibitor?  What big break might have you missed out of complacency?

Aha! ~  make routine-breaking your new routine.

When you blindly accept status quo, you not only lock the door to opportunity, you fail to exercise your creative, resiliency muscles.

Why is that important?

Just when you begin to get comfy, life has a way of stepping in and disrupting it all.  By deliberately interrupting patterns, you’re organizing yourself for that unexpected shake-up OR a deliberate shake up because you’re ready to level up!!

Take a different route to work or to pick up the kids from school. Prepare dinner with your less dominant hand.  Go up the stairs backwards.  Change up “good morning” to a pleasantry in another language. Talk to the man or woman standing next to you in the elevator, line up or store.  Have a conversation with a flat-earther.

The world is changing and we need to get in shape for the change.  Great minds think differently.  Creative minds outsmart change.

Billions of dollars are spent every year to ensure you consume content, food and services in a certain way.  Want to learn to become independent by questioning more and accepting less?  Jump on YouTube for more on the topic then get the book below and join Human U, where graduation is ongoing.
