Apr 13, 2023How do you handle setbacks?
I think the younger we are the less likely we are to respond positively to setbacks, denials or detours of any kind. Our young minds anticipate with great joy sitting next to our friend in school, being invited to that birthday party or taking part in a game or competition. It’s like the world falls apart when things don’t go as planned or we don’t receive as we desire (I see daily testament of this with tantrum toddlers in the supermarket).
Some, through years of disappointment, will become victims of circumstance and give lifeless effort. They lose self-confidence and turn to those around them to do the heavy lifting. These individuals will often attract people who feel for the underachiever and support them in some way.
Others will become over-achievers, working hard to win the favour of society and attempting to protect themselves from failure. Both personalities look to avoid repeating wounds of earlier trauma.
But what happens when you shift your perspective from external to internal with respect to the times when something did not go as expected: the bus arrived late, your best friend moved away, you didn’t get into the school you wanted or the job you worked towards, receive the award you worked so hard for, etc.? In other words, recognize that something didn’t “happen” to you but that the Universe was steering you in a new direction?
Aha! ~ You are not a victim of circumstances. You are the co-creator of your existence.
"I ask not, oh divine providence, for more riches, but for more wisdom with which to accept and use wisely the riches I received at birth in the form of the power to control and direct my mind to whatever ends I desire." - Napoleon Hill
For decades you have been groomed to conform in a society that teaches you that you are powerless. Even those who recognize that power do little to exercise it. The existing paradigms run too deep. They understand it intellectually but cannot embody it. But the veils are lifting and a new level of power and wisdom is yours for the taking. Through realization and connection with like minds and universal love, you can begin to flex those spiritual muscles, feed your mind and your body the nutrition it craves, and step confidently into your best Self.
Oh, and to those people who tried to bury you, they didn’t realize you were a seed.
Watch the Trailblazer site for where Tuesday’s conversation will take place. It’ll be a dilly as we learn to strip ourselves of old hurts and with all the kindness in the world, take our rightful place in the world of desire.
