British journalist and best-selling author, Johann Hari describes his visit to Koenji school in Japan.

Hari says that Japan is the only country that got rich and didn’t get fat.   The reason?  Well, for starters, from five years of age and up, the children walk to school – on their own – then all school lunches are prepared from scratch each day.  Processed foods are banned and no outside lunches are allowed.  This brief Youtube short is Hari describing what he discovered; that children are taught to love healthy foods.

Hari explains the real cause of obesity – no, it’s not genetics – it is that “….the food we have been eating is undermining our ability to know when to stop.”  The incredible experiment he discusses shows how rats were lured away from their innate wisdom of quality foods and ideal proportions by sugary, processed, addictive foods, typical to the North American diet.  The rats lost their way and ate themselves obese from the inside out of cheesecake.

Don’t allow the food industry to hijack your appetite.  Love the good stuff, first.

This week in Human U we did a deep dive call on Chapter #35 of 50 Simple Ways to Release the Shackles of Self-Sabotage, entitled, Get Out of the System.

By “system” we mean where someone else rules your energy; it could be a job, a set of restrictive rules or a belief.  Jobs are noble – all work is noble – but having a job can mean that you are building someone else’s dream, playing by someone else’s rules, and being capped by someone else’s performance review.  Jobs can be meaningful and rewarding, fulfilling and joyful – YES – however we want to always check with ourselves as to when we are following and when we are leading!
