Winter Wisdom

aha moment jae m rang Dec 30, 2024

According to Strava, a fitness tracking app, January 19th has been dubbed “Quitters' Day,” as
that’s when many people abandon their resolutions. In fact, 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail
by February according to a study by the University of Scranton. In total, only 9% of people feelthey were successful in keeping their New Year’s resolutions throughout the year.

How inspiring is that, ha ha!?

They say common reasons for failure include setting unrealistic goals, lacking clear strategies or
support, and losing motivation after the initial excitement fades.

But we’re not quitters. We know what we want and are willing to go the distance to receive
them. Why can’t we make Jan-one goals stick?

Aha! ~ Because it’s winter and winter is hibernation time.

Winter is symbolically and energetically about rest and preparation. It is not the time to be
forcing change in productivity when the body and mind crave contemplation and reflection.

Our natural new year is at the beginning of the Zodiac year – March 21 st – the first day of spring.
That is the time of rebirth and activity and when the Aries warrior goes into high gear.

Winter is the ideal time to do some intention planning and to make structural changes but only
once you identify your desires and what you’re willing to cast off to receive them.

Winter is also a great time to re-evaluate priorities, question beliefs (especially those that no
longer serve), investigate opportunity, journal and prepare.

It’s a perfect time to focus on habits that improve your body and mind knowing that your
enhanced, vibrant energy will begin to draw to you everything you need to live out your best life.

Lasting change begins with a decision and is long-lasting when you work with natural cycles.
Embrace the idea that change is gradual and simply commit to doing something every day to
move you closer to authenticity.

January 1st is another special day in your incredible journey of self-discovery and purpose.
Reflect, decide, plan, prepare, then live.

Happy 2025! May this be your favourite year yet.
